Footprints are to the outside face of the wall framing, and the square footage shown is the enclosed room — the envelope less the covered front recess, which is outside the walls. A workspace is not a dwelling: there is no sleeping, cooking or sanitation in any of these, and whether a habitable detached accessory building is permitted on your property is a local question the drawings tell you to confirm.

Each one below is rebuilt from its reference by the studio, so the benches, the headroom over them and the heater sizing come out of the design rather than off a spec sheet.
The square footage shown is the enclosed hot room, which on a design with a recessed entry is less than the footprint — the two are scheduled apart. Heater output, clearances to combustibles and ventilation come from the listing of the heater actually selected; the drawings size the room and say what they do not establish.
